There’s no doubt about it – adult coloring is an exploding trend that has proven to be a fun, therapeutic activity for people of all ages. Due to the relaxation and mindful benefits of coloring, many nursing homes, senior centers, and senior social groups are incorporating adult coloring into their activity schedules now more than ever and people are having a blast!

With the increasing popularity of this trend, chances are you may have a colorist or two in your life. Because the holiday season will be here before we know it, I have created this fun list of gift ideas geared specifically for senior colorists. These items are intended to help create a comfortable coloring environment so your loved ones can get the most enjoyment out of their coloring experience.

Coloring Books for Senior Colorists

Keep it simple. There are a lot of fancy books available but when it comes to senior coloring, look for books with larger images and bolder lines. Too much fine detail can be overwhelming for senior colorists and isn’t necessary for a good coloring experience.

Since coloring is supposed to be a fun and relaxing activity, the area used for coloring should be made as comfortable as possible. Senior colorists have unique needs and I found some cool solutions that make very thoughtful coloring-related gifts.

Time. The best gift you can give to any colorist, especially seniors, is your time. Bring your own coloring supplies and sit with your friend or family member and enjoy coloring together. Drink some hot chocolate or tea… talk, laugh, and enjoy each others’ company. The time you spend together will create wonderful memories you will be able to look back on for many years to come.
